UPDATE (June 30, 2020): Per an announcement made by the Jackson County Health Department and as an official order to be released in detail by Jackson County… Effective, July 1, ALL persons inside public buildings and in public outdoor settings must wear a face covering. This is in response to a continued increase of COVID-19 cases in Jackson County and the surrounding area. This includes the Fireworks Fundraising Tent. The GVBPA Executive Board
This is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Grain Valley Band Parents Association. Most of the operating funds generated for the fiscal year are generated from this one fundraiser. Therefore your support is critical to it’s success and the success of the BPA mission – to support the financial needs of the Band program. Each student is required to work ONE shift; and one parent/guardian to work ONE shift.
WHO: For the tent to be OPEN, a minimum of (2) adults must be present during every shift. If enough adult volunteers do not sign up and/or appear for their shift, then the tent cannot operate. Each shift needs a minimum of (2) student volunteers to assist with stocking, promoting, sacking, etc. Peak sales days have higher minimum volunteer needs.
WHEN: Volunteer shifts are available for set-up on Friday, June 26 and open for business between 8 am – 10 PM on Saturday, June 27 – Saturday, July 4, 2020.
WHERE: The tent is set-up in the parking lot of the Cosentino’s Price Chopper, 1191 NE McQuerry Road, Grain Valley, MO 64029
COVID: Volunteer shifts are subject to change due to COVID-19 restrictions. We will let you know if your shift is no longer needed, or requirements change; as soon as we are notified. Students should bring their signed COVID waiver with them during their shift, if they have not already submitted it to the Band Director.
WEATHER POLICY: The Fireworks Fundraiser is a “rain or shine” event. Based upon updates from the National Weather service, if there is lightning in the area or if weather changes in a way that would put our volunteers at risk, they will be directed to retreat to their vehicle or inside the Price Chopper store; depending upon the situation.
