2020 Marching Eagles Shoe Drive

Grain Valley Marching Eagles Shoe Drive!  

Our band is participating in a fundraiser where there is nothing to buy or sell, all we need is your support and your gently worn, used and new shoes. We are looking for members to help support us by agreeing to collect 25 pairs of gently worn, used and new shoes in the next 4 weeks.  We have a goal to collect 100 bags of shoes! 

Here’s how you do it: Start in your family’s closets and gather pairs of shoes that you’ve out grown, are out of style, or out of season. If you have 25 pairs, great; if not please ask your neighbors and co-workers to do the same. These shoes will help support our program as well as micro-entrepreneurs (small business owners) in developing nations like Haiti, Colombia and Tanzania. PS: if you can’t collect 25, then try for 15, 10, or 5. Every pair helps. Included below is a student tracking sheet to help you with your shoe count! 

Shoe Drive Fundraiser Goal 

When you collect your shoes, make sure the shoes have no holes, and the soles are intact.  See the collection do’s and don’t flyers for more info on acceptable shoes. Tie the laces together or place rubber bands around shoes without laces.  Please scroll down for a complete list of Do’s and Don’ts for collecting shoes.

Bring your completed bags of 25 pairs of shoes to one of the collection dates below!  We will have a collection/drop off time each Saturday morning throughout January and February, 9:00-11:00 am at the High School band barn on the following dates: 

January 11, 18, 25 

February 1, 8, 15, 22, 29

What you earn:   Your band student will earn $8 towards their account per full bag of 25 acceptable pairs of shoes! In addition – we will award money towards the accounts of the top 3 students bringing in the most shoes! 

1st place: $100

2nd place: $75

3rd place: $50

We will also be collecting pairs of shoes during basketball games when the pep band plays and would love to have help from parents and students manning the collection bins at these games.  Sign ups will be posted on the BPA website soon.

We will be hosting 2 shoe packing parties!  We will need student and parent help counting and bagging shoes on January 25 and February 29, 9:00 am -11:00 am. Students will be able to earn community service hours for the shoe packing parties!
